Historic Durham ~ Land of the Prince Bishops
A busy pub and restaurant is a three minute stroll away. A paper shop and foodstore are within walking distance (500 yards). The Arnison Centre Retail Park with a large Sainsburys hypermarket is just over a mile away. Several excellent take-away food outlets are available in Framwellgate Moor (2 miles). For children, two family pubs with supervised play areas and children's menus are within a mile. Several top class restaurants are situated locally for a special evening out. Lying midway between historic Durham City (3 miles) and the market town of Chester-le-Street (2 miles), it is ideally placed for commuting to the major commercial centres of the North East. Plawsworth is an ideal base for touring the Dales, Northumberland, the Borders and North Yorkshire.

There is a bus stop 350 metres away with regular services to Darlington, Durham , Chester-le-Street and Newcastle. Durham Railway Station is within easy reach by bus. Regular services operate to York (40 mins) Edinburgh (1hr 40mins).
The Gateshead Metro Centre is 11 miles to the north and easily accesible by car.
Durham County Cricket ground is situated 2 miles away. Swimming pools are located at Durham and Chester-le-Street. Wet&Wild and the Sea Life Centre in North Shields are about 30 minutes away by car. For the Golfing enthusiast, numerous courses are situated in the area. A driving range is 2 miles away at Finchale Abbey. The award winning Beamish Open Air Museum is a few minutes by car. The Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle and the Hancock at Newcastle are well worth visiting. The Theatre Royal in Newcastle stages major theatrical productions. No visit to the North East would be complete without visiting Durham City, a designated World Heritage Site with its magnificent Cathedral and Castle.
